Training to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Hancock County

CASA/GALs undergo a thorough training course. During the 40-hour training, volunteers learn about courtroom procedure from the principals in the system – judges, attorneys, social workers, CASA staff and other community service providers. Court Appointed Special Advocates also learn effective advocacy techniques for children and receive training on specific topics ranging from child sexual abuse to how to prepare their written reports for presentation to the court. After completion of the initial training, a swearing-in ceremony is held by the CASA staff and the judges.
